No argument with any of the above, but the situation is much worse than what most folks believe. The Feds do the cash method in accounting, not using Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP). The annual incurred future liabilities are thus off the books, even though they're debt.

So add a few trillions to this year's $1.6 trillion deficit. The debt which is building up for SS, Medicare, etc., etc. Somewhere up around a hundred trillion George Washingtons...

Just the "normal" federal debt's interest component is growing beyond the total annual budget of not all that many years back. ("Not mnany" in Olde Phart perspective. :-)) Interest rates will be rising, and the interest component will soon be around trillion bucks in its own right.

Yeah, I well remember 1981 and the household budget. If individuals could do it - so could societies. But I expect too many are weak-willed and so attached to the public teat of financial largess of let-someone-else-pay (fobbing it off on great-grandkids as if that's not cruel and inhumane ancestral behavior our adults' parts nowdays) so the average American doesn't have the wherewithal nor willpower to do what it takes. Nor get off duffs and turn off the boob tube and get out and make improvements in the world with the sweat of one's brow, smoothed along with Elbow Grease.

Credit eventually comes to an end for deadbeat families - IMO - nations as well. It's only a matter of time. When sheoples and USG are rudely yanked off the public financial teat - they're gonna SQUALL like too-fat babies with glutonous attitudes when Mama Tucks the Spigot back under her clothes and says, "Enough!"

And the nice Chinese "Wetnurse" is gonna turn her back instead of baring a breast, too.... And those with hoggy attitudes here have the audacity to catcall and insult those they call "PIGS"! Do they avert their eyes when brushing teeth before the medicine cabinet come morning? And only catch a reflection in the plate glass store windows as they stride in plastic 'money' in hand?!

You have been a busy little lady this week. I have trouble reading it as fast as you write it. But of course your stuff requires some thought. This one was easy.

Surely you know we didn't have enough government in 1981? And the people were clamoring for more... ;)

This is a far better plan than anything I've heard advertised on the propaganda... er... news stations.

Remember the phrase "balanced budget"?
Let's go further... why not Zero Deficit?
I don't want to just balance the budget and create a "projected surplus", I want it to undo the damage and actually put the U.S. into the solvency to stay.

As far as education goes: yes yes yes and we don't have to watch as someone writes Jefferson out of the textbooks or schools start closing 1 or more days a week...
