Would all Americans go if necessary? Think Al Bore would? Or Obama? Think any congressman would? Perhaps a few, but I doubt most would.

Soldiers go where they are sent, and sometimes even volunteering for the front doesn't result in orders there. What matters is that all of us WOULD go if necessary.

Lynne, I doubt Al Bore would even know what sacrifice even was if it reached up and bit him in the ass, especially the patriotic type. I suspect most American "leaders" would fall into the same category. And yet Americans look to them to help save them? How do you lead where you do not go yourself? I believe America needs a good swift kick in the butt, and that it's coming faster than they imagine.

Though I never served in a war-zone. I don't consider Algores' 7 month being a REMF journalist in Saigon as being a combat veteran. I was probably closer to combat than he was on several deployments. I was never in combat, I just tried to give them good support while I sent them out to fight and die. I didn't go myself. I ain't proud of that. They sacrificed, my kids did it not cause I told them it was their duty, and they did not because of me but because of the USA and 9-11. They are great Americans and patriots. Not cause they had to go but they chose to go.

Well I did hear the Nobel has a chunk of change that goes with it. You may be able to fill up your gas tanks if you win it Tony.

Steve,

Wot's the big thing about an oscar or Nobel prize.

I got two Nobel prizes on my last trip to Houston. I had to fill up twice and got one with each fill-up.

Oscars are a bit harder to come by--I've got to fill up TWICE to get one.

always,
