FEAR AND SORROW
Monday, April 9th, 2012Author Tony DeMaio
I have been watching the development of the Trevon Martin situation with a certain amount of sadness and fear.
First of all, I’m somewhat sad that apparently Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the rest of the country has learned nothing from they Tawana Brawley episode. I see a country that has rushed to judgment and convicted a person for for murder in a situation that may be self defense. I see “celebrities” using the power to the internet to give out the home address of folks they want terrorized. I see the wholesale condemnation of a police department that for all intents and purposes, did an adequate job of investigation, concluded “self defense”, and did not choose to indict.
I am sad that a sizeable group of people wish to judge the issue on racial/ethnic grounds, rather than simply look at the evidence; that they feel one of their “brothers” has been unjustly killed–not that a teen-ager has been unjustly killed.
But it is the fear that concerns me. I suspected “something was amiss” when I saw Trevon Martin depicted as a 12 year old boy in the initial news stories. He looked somewhat like a choir boy on his way to church. I wondered why a grown man couldn’t subdue an 80 pound boy without killing him. Things got a little more fearful as the news media started using words like “murder”, and our legislators started using words like “execution” or “hunted down like a dog”. I watched in amazement as the vigilantes called for Zimmerman’s arrest–with no knowledge of what transpired. Amazement does not describe how I felt as a private organization put a “bounty” on Zimmerman’s head. I thought, “My gawd, are we in Iran where the church can order someone killed?” And then, my amazement turned to astonishment as NBC doctored a 911 tape. (This is the same NBC that packed explosives into a Chevrolet truck and exploded them to make it appear the truck would explode on impact. Also, since this is a public 911 tape available to everyone, they knew they would “get caught”. Were they so stupid they thought they could get away with it–or did they not care?) Not to be outdone, ABC “enhanced” the 911 tape to “prove” Zimmerman used the word “coon”–then backtracked.
Folks, we now have vigilante/mob justice in this country, whereby any mob can call for the arrest of a citizen, and the news media, legislators, and “justice“ system will respond to that mob. I have often wondered how a mob could call for the death of Jesus, the authorities could find not fault with him, and he was crucified anyway. Now I know.
Below is a paper I wrote several years ago. I hope you will find it interesting.
Propaganda
I have long suspected that I was exposed to propaganda in this country. Foolish that I am, I thought I could pretty much “see through” it and was immune. I COULD see through it often enough to where I indulged myself in a false sense of security.
The other day, I was conversing with someone who was expounding on all the atrocities of the United States. As I listened to him, it became quite clear that I had been fooled again. See if YOU can determine the propaganda content of this message.
You know, this is a pretty savage country. We interred the Japanese illegally in World War II, and we dropped atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. We firebombed Dresden and Tokyo, killing thousands of civilians.
Then we went into Korea and didn’t allow those two countries to unite. We tied the hands of our commanders and didn’t allow them to pursue the war for political reasons. Fifty thousand Americans were killed and untold numbers Koreans died. Eisenhower screwed up the negotiations for ending the war, and we’re STILL “negotiating” fifty years later.
We then abandoned the Cuban freedom fighters at the Bay of Pigs after we had assured them of our support, which led to the establishment of a Communist regime in the western hemisphere. We got involved with Vietnam and lost 50,000 American lives—in addition to losing the war. Again, we put political restrictions on our troops and lost the war. We lied to the American people about the Gulf of Tonkin, and escalated the war dramatically. Nixon screwed up the peace negotiations and the North Vietnamese invaded the south successfully because we didn’t re-enter the war as we had promised.
We deposed the Shah of Iran, and then tolerated the Iranians taking our embassy personnel as hostage, while we screwed up a rescue attempt. Not to be outdone, the North Koreans “captured” one of our radar picket ships while we stood idly by.
Then Reagan bombed Kadaffi, invaded Panama to get Noreiga, and also invaded Somalia. Bush got us into a war with Iraq over a local matter between two Arab states, and didn’t finish the job by going into Iraq and nailing Saddam Hussein.
Then we stood by as our enemies made repeated attacks on us—the U.S.S. Cole, the twin towers (the first time), Somalia, Bosnia, Khobar Towers, embassies, Saudi Arabia. We bombed the hell out of Kosovo, killing thousands of civilians.
Then Bush got us into an illegal war with Afghanistan and Iraq which goes on to this day.
Well, folks, did you spot it? I didn’t think so. It’s quite subtle. Let me help you out a bit. Try this.

Well, folks, did you spot it? Neat, wasn’t it? Every time a democratic ex Pres was involved, it was/is “we”; every time a Republican ex Pres is involved, he is named.
Editors Note:
Another side of the Trevon Martin debacle is amount of attention it has garnered toward the “evils” of gun ownership and one’s ability to defend themselves. If get the populace riled up enough about a certain topic, even if it is only dancing around the agenda (2nd Amendment) any action taken indirectly on an international scale which is then downplayed by the liberal media as a needed response to the latest blown up outcry. It is only a matter of time before our society at large is so numb and dumb to their own rights that they will beg for their rights to be taken away. Any citizen who at that time opposes their abduction of rights will be labeled a “terrorist” and put away under NDAA. While this is preaching to the choir, it is my hope that it will help galvanize those on the fence to stand up and speak out before their opportunity to do so is gone.

Sometimes it makes me so sad and what, frightened to come to TTR. A lot of raw truth here. Thye propaganda is so nthick you can cut it. It is easier to see from the outside, but we in Canada are not only getting the spill over from thge US but also we get our very own s
spin.
For the first time in many years I got into a squabble at a site where I was subtly promoting the book. Said something derogatory about the US government which was patently true. The administrator became slightly crazy and landed with both feet. How dare you, a foreigner talk about our government. We have US bodies all over the world helping you and keeping peace, etc etc etc.
I sent back a private note saying that US financial shennanigans were effecting me and my country and therefore I had a perfect right to comment. Moreover those peacekeeping efforts were viewed more in the nature of expansion of the empire. and closed my account. Hate food fights particularly when they get personal and not debates. Moral of the story, the propaganda works with some of the people, all of the time.

Agreed, it’s a bit tougher to spot the lies when they are internal. But they’re lies all the same.
It now appears to create a justifiably “poor” attitude: if a politician is speaking, he is lying. Minor possible exceptions: Ron & Rand Paul, that Inhofe guy from Oklahoma, maybe a few others. But nearly ALL members of this administration (all Executive, 98%+ of CONgress, and probably some judiciary) are LYING to you, ALL the time. No wonder so many Americans say the administration has lost “the consent of the governed”!
It will change; the lies cannot be hidden forever, and politicians will be driven from office with votes – or a rope. There is no cure for being wrong about so much so often, but there is a cure for lying – and may it start, soon.

I lump J. Jackson, A. Sharpton, Rev. Wright and the Big O as a group of what I call “Racial Divisivness Professionals”. They gain money and/or power from their rabble-rousing and lies.
Different people have different perspectives on wars and the reasons for wars. Lumping them together as above does little good insofar as understanding–beyond deciding negatively on the views of the mediahcrities, as they deserve.
But many of the statements alleging US evils are just so much BS.
Without Pearl Harbor there would have been no Hiroshima. Had Mossadegh not been cozying up with the Russians, there would have been no Shah. Two Koreas? We’d have had to go to war all over again against Russia to have had a united Korea. And so it goes…

Well said, as always, Tony. It frightens me, too, how effective this systematic conditioning is on the populace. And, with regards to the Treyvon Martin issue in particular, I have to admit that I was on the “arrest Zimmerman” bandwagon initially, primarily due to the fact that he was on the phone with 911 and told not to get out of his car and follow the young man but ignored that. But as new “facts” came out, it was clear to me that this issue was not (pardon the pun) black-and-white. Unfortunately, as J.J., A.S., et al are politicians in their own way, and every self-respecting politician knows not to let a good crisis go to waste, this is exactly the type of incident they can politicize to further their racist agenda. They could blow this up into full-out nation-wide racial warfare. Those other two animals that just went out and randomly shot five black people – assuming that’s true and not also a pile of propoganda – will just fuel the fire.
Thanks for pointing out the subtleties of the propoganda. I thought I was pretty good at spotting it too, but I’m always interested in getting even better.
And Allen, feel free to say anything you want about our mis-govern-ment.

Val,
From what I know about this case, it has “reasonable doubt” stamped all over it.
There are two things “wrong” with him getting out of his car when he was told not to follow:
1. The 911 operator wasn’t on the scene. As such, Zimmerman had far more information at his disposal than the 911 operator.
2. Apparently, (he claims) he did NOT follow Trayvon. He got out of his truck to determine his location to give it to the 911 operator.
True?? who knows. Reasonable doubt?? certainly.
I cannot help but compare it to the Tawana Brawley case where all the little wannabe politicians jumped on for the national publicity. The loco DA suppressed evidence in order to prosecute. Sharpton, Jackson, etc. all jumped in. Then the truth came out.
I watched this “special prosecutor” on t.v. To ME, she was salivating at all the publicity. I cannot help but believe she is “going it alone” (no grand jury) so she doesn’t have to share the “glory”. Also, she couldn’t take the chance that they would not return a true bill. That would deprive HER of HER chance for “glory” and political office.
I don’t find it surprising that at the time of the arrest the loco DA wanted to prosecute in spite of the fact the everyone else thought there was insufficient evidence. He wanted HIS chance for glory also.
Zimmerman is a pawn in a high stakes political game. I hope the truth comes out. Regardless, we now have lynch mob rule in this country. The “system” judged him to not be at fault at the time of incident. Mob rule informed the system that it will reconsider. I cannnot believe all those “brothers” that were marching had any in depth knowledge of the events–they only knew a “brother” had been killed. Racial identity is gonna hurt this country.
Judged innocent or guilty, I suspect there is gonna be “trouble” when the verdict comes in–but that is THEN, and this is NOW. Something about “kicking the can down the road”.
always,
tony

Allen, you’re close! I’ve never taken the Myers Briggs, but I have taken the Kiersey Temperament Sorter on line several times. According to Kiersey, I’m INtJ (http://www.keirsey.com/4temps/mastermind.asp) – sometimes wavering over to INfJ. I kinda figured most readers on this site were similar. In fact, until I read somewhere that Obama is also an INTJ, I wondered how closely personality types followed political ideaologies.
How ’bout you? What’s your type?
